An Outfit

Old Navy t-shirt, Forever 21 cardigan and bracelet, Bags that Fit (local boutique) belt, Kohl's watch, Yellow Blackbird necklace and skirt, Payless shoes

I haven't posted an outfit picture in a really long time. I really liked what I wore to church yesterday so I thought I would snap a few pictures of it and share here. Yes, the 100 degree weather is a bit warm for a sweater, but it was perfect for the A/C in the church.

Be sure to come back on Wednesday for a fun new jewelry tutorial!

What I Wore... and some changes

Forever 21 shirt, skirt made by me, belt traded with Paige from Pink Lemonade, Old Navy shoes, Forever 21 bangle, Chevron bangle made by me (tutorial here)

WHEN: Thursday, May 17

WHERE: Work and errands

GETTING CREATIVE: I made another skirt!!! Remember the first one? I used the same tutorial. I saw this fabric at Walmart and just had to have it. I love the nautical feel of this outfit. Recently, Kendi at Kendi Everyday said she was wearing an outfit that didn't make sense outside of the blogging world. I think this outfit of mine may fall under the same category. Does it make sense to anyone else in the world? The cashiers at both Hobby Lobby and Old Navy both complimented me on my outfit and I have no proof that they are bloggers so I am going to say yes.

I need haircut! Only 4 days until my appointment!

So... on a different note.... I have tried blogging a little bit on a schedule and it really isn't working for me. I have missed Favorite Pin Friday 2 weeks in a row now and seem to blog out of obligation rather than enjoyment (which is especially funny since I currently have no sponsors). From this point on I am only going to blog when I feel like I have something good to share. Only like 15 people ever looked at the Pinterest feature and virtually no one ever commented on it. I guess it wasn't that exciting of a post, especially if you already follow me on Pinterest.

As for What I Wore on Saturday... I think that won't necessarily be a regular feature anymore. I still want to blog some of my outfit photos, but since I am taking less photos now anyway, I will just show you when (I think) I have a good one. This will also allow me to do more writing, should I choose to. I am pretty darn sure most of you are here for the tutorials and craft projects anyway and since I only have 4 1/2 days of school left I should be able to get the projects I have been working on posted.

Hooray!

What I Wore

Shade shirt, Forever 21 sweater, New York & Co pants, Target sandals and belt

WHEN: Thursday, May 3

WHERE: Work and a little GNO at my neighbors house.

GETTING CREATIVE: Color blocking, colored pants, stripes... I felt almost too trendy. Not to mention that every time I wear red and blue at least 2 jr high students (and sometimes your twenty-something brother) have to make comments about the 4th of July. Red and blue are NOT just for patriotism, and besides, I can show my patriotism any day of the year I want, right? But seriously, do you think this is too much color? I have edited the photo a little bit so the colors are a bit more saturated than they are IRL.
Gap shirt, Bags that Fit vest, Forever 21 pants, JCP belt (came with a skirt), Steve Madden via Ross shoes, Kohls necklace and watch

WHEN: Wednesday, May 2

WHERE: Work and a retirement party

GETTING CREATIVE: I bought this vest with the hope that it would help me look more put together in the summer when it's too hot to wear a lot of layers. So far I haven't found many ways to wear it (this was only the 2nd time I think). It looks okay here... I think either the belt or the necklace needed to go. Or better yet a smaller necklace.

Forever 21 dress, Old Navy trench, Bags that Fit necklace, Target sandals (same as first outfit above), shirt Bella Bird (Walmart)

WHEN: Monday, April 30

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: Look at Spencer and his sun flare skills. :)  I really don't have a lot to say about this outfit. I wish the vest was a little smaller, but I think it looks okay.

Bags that Fit dress, Old Navy blazer, Steve Madden via Ross shoes, Payless bracelets, Disneyland necklace

WHEN: Sunday, April 29

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: This is an ever so slight variation of my #1 favorite outfits from 2011. If you really love wearing something, why not wear it multiple times? I bought this blazer years ago and didn't really start wearing it a lot until the last year or so. However, I think it's time for it to retire. It's really dirty, and I don't know if it will wash out. I will have to start looking for a new one.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be linking up with Momma Go Round and the Pleated Poppy.

What I Wore

With the new blogger settings, it's much easier for me to have nice large photos now... but are they too blurry/pixelated? I hope not because I have been trying to get my photos bigger for long time. Please let me know if it's too big or looks bad.

Local boutique skirt, Target belt, Mudd shoes (old from Mervyn's), H&M shirt, Kohl's watch

WHEN: Sunday, April 22

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: I wore the same skirt to church twice in a row, which I never do. But this mint beauty needed to be worn again so I styled it in a different way. It's different enough from last week's right?
Local boutique blouse, Forever 21 pants, Payless shoes, gifted necklace

WHEN: Tuesday, April 24

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I fell in love with this top the moment I saw it, and thankfully it was 50% off! I have worn it several times, but don't know for sure if it has been on the blog yet. I had to turn around in the photo to show you how the back opens up. Could be kind of scandalous, but I think it's okay with a t-shirt underneath. :) I styled it simply to let the shirt be the star!

Are you getting sick of me talking about this great tutorial I am working on? Beginning to think it's a myth? Life has been insane, but next week looks pretty open (so far!) so I am crossing my fingers that I will finally get it done!

What I Wore

Ross tank top, local boutique cardigan, Old Navy pants, Payless shoes, Kohls sunglasses, Nine West bag (via Ross, I think), F21 necklace

WHEN: Friday, April 20

WHERE: Work and dinner date with husband Spencer

GETTING CREATIVE: It was casual Friday, I was tired, and was planning on wearing my school t-shirt (I am a teacher, remember). When I put it on it was a wrinkled mess so I had to grab something else quick. Like I said yesterday I had seen this pin that morning so I adapted it to fit what was in my closet. I did wear a denim jacket at first, but we're really not supposed to wear denim to work so I took it off when I got there and never put it back on.

Hand-me down shirt, local boutique skirt, Target heels and necklace (gift), JCP belt (came with a skirt), Sketchers glasses

WHEN: Sunday, April 15

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: This is definitely in my top 10 favorite outfits of the year so far. I call it "Mint Chocolate Chip." Ha ha. I got some new glasses but they have been really hard to get used to. This was the first time I have worn them out in public. I can't decide if I really like them. They look pretty good with this outfit in these photos...

Old Navy cardigan, Forever Young shoes, Forever 21 necklace, Target belt, and skirt so old I can't remember where it came from

WHEN: Monday, April 16

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: We have had a marvelous spring this year. The best I can ever remember. It has been so great to actually get to wear spring outfits. I was inspired by another blogger to put this outfit together and I like how it turned out. The white skirt is something I have held on to for a long time but haven't worn much in the past few years. I am glad to give it new life!

I also wore another great outfit this week that I really liked. I didn't get any photos of it, so I will have to wear it again to church or something so I can take a picture. It was inspired by this pin, but I wore a yellow skirt and coral cardi instead. I also wore boots because it was a little chilly that day. It looked great if I do say so myself! :)

Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for being here!

What I Wore, Bracelet Kit Winners, and a Discount Code

Like I said yesterday, I spent this last week in Disneyland so I don't have many outfit photos. Of course I got dressed when I was in California, but I am all about practicality with my many layers (it was chilly) and tennis shoes when I am there, not necessarily style. (Oh and my Mickey Mouse t-shirt. I am all about that.) You do see some very interesting style at Disneyland...

Target dress, Old Navy blazer, Payless wedges, Charlotte Russe Necklace, Kohls bracelet, watch, and sunglasses

WHEN: Easter Sunday

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: I really love this dress. I purchased it many weeks ago and was saving it for Easter. Not exactly the traditional pastel, but I decided to take the bright route. This is a maxi with sleeves!!! so when it gets hot I won't have to worry about all the layering. You can't see the shoes well, so go here to check them out on the Payless site. They are the tallest wedges I own and make me 6 feet tall!

And finally... the winners of the Anthropologie Inspired DIY Bracelet kits:

#23 Alyssa Sauriol
#16 Gearhart Gang
#17 Gearhart Gang

That's right, Gearhart Gang won two kits! If you entered more than once you had the opportunity to win more than once. Please email me [aubreelarsen(at)gmail(dot)com] to give me your mailing address and select the color for your kit.

If you didn't win, you can purchase your kit here... and until April 21 take 15% off your Yellow Blackbird order with code SPRING.

What I Wore

I don't have many pics this week which is unfortunate for two reasons. First and mostly, it means that husband Spencer had to work a lot. And I mean a lot. And second, I wore a lot of good outfits that I don't have record of. I might have to put them back on when he is around so I can have some photos. I just like to have a log so I can remember what I wore, but also so I can see if it looks good in the photo as well as the mirror.

I wore the trench vest two ways this week (one is pictured below). I also got a mint green pleated skirt that is to die for that I wore to work on Friday.

Local store shirt, Target cardigan and shoes, Maurices pants, Disneyland necklace

WHEN: Saturday, April 7

WHERE: Family Easter Dinner

GETTING CREATIVE: This shirt was one of those dumb purchases. It really doesn't fit well, but I just had to have it. Wearing a cardigan or jacket over it covers up the huge neckline and it turns out okay.

H&M shirt, Old Navy trench vest, New York & Co. pants, Target shoes

WHEN: Monday, April 2

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I have probably worn these pants with a striped top a bazillion times now so I don't know how creative it was. I did put my trench vest research to good use though!

Well, I am going to end here so I can get back to watching Downton Abbey. OBSESSED! I was horrified by the last five minutes of the first episode and was appalled by everyone online and IRL that recommended the show. But some of the people I really trust had recommended it so I watched another episode or two and nothing else disgusting has happened. I wonder if some of those people missed the first episode. But anyway, It's soooooo good. I watched the first season online and put season 2 on hold at the library. Of course the wait line was really long. But I found out that my grandma had purchased the DVDs!!!! I am almost done with the second season and will have to join everyone in waiting for the third. Any other fans out there?

Happy Easter! Have a great weekend! Thanks for being here!

What I Wore

This week was a good representation of how to remix. I wore many of the same pieces twice, but never when I saw the same people. I am so glad for the spring weather and bright spring colors to wear!

Old Navy blouse and belt, Bags that Fit cardigan, JCP skirt, Forever Young shoes, Forever 21 trench

WHEN: Sunday, March 25

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: No neutrals here... I love all the colors! I bought the tank top from Old Navy on clearance and it was a size too big. I had to alter it and shorten the straps but it was worth it for that cute print. I think I was subconsciously inspired by Kendi (as usual). Can I tell you how much I LOVE my new orange trench???

Bella Bird (Walmart) shirt, Forever 21 cardigan, Charlotte Russe necklace, Bags that Fit belt, JCP skirt, Payless boots, Kohl's sunglasses

WHEN: Tuesday, March 27

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I was excited about my new skirt and wanted to wear it to work as well. I will probably wear that first outfit to work sometime soon, but it was cooler so I needed the boots. This outfit is completely stolen from Audrey. And I love it.

Old Navy shirt, Target cardigan, Forever 21 pants, Forever Young shoes

WHEN: Friday, March 30

WHERE: Work and my mom's big birthday bash (more on that next week)

GETTING CREATIVE: I wanted to be dressed in bright fun colors for the party so I remixed the blouse and came up with this. Don't mind the sour look. It was late.

Can we talk about my hair for just a sec? Can you tell in this last photo that I chopped it again? It's shorter, and a lot thinner. I think I really like it. The first day of doing it myself (Friday) went really well, but this morning was a bit tougher. What do you think?

Have a great weekend! I will be enjoying LDS general conference today and tomorrow and can't wait!

What I Wore

Old Navy shirt, Ross Jeans, Payless boots, Charlotte Rusee necklace, Forever 21 bracelet

WHEN: Saturday, March 17

WHERE: Family St. Patrick's Day party

GETTING CREATIVE: Last week I said that I was unsure about what to wear for St. Patrick's day... not having much green. Then I went shopping and found this cute green striped top at Old Navy so I bought it. I wore this brightly colored necklace backwards because I thought it resembled 4 leaf clovers on the gold side.

Old dress, Target cardigan and shoes, Walmart tights, Ross belt

WHEN: Sunday, March 18

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: Winter came back for a few days so I got in another day of wearing my red tights. Nothing too special about this outfit but I think my hair looks good in this photo. :)

Express shirt, Forever 21 cardigan, Old Navy belt, Gap skinnies, Madden Girl boots, Target scarf (gift)

WHEN: Sometime this week... maybe Wednesday?

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I love all the yellow and mint green combos I have been seeing on Pinterest lately (example) and even though this scarf isn't mint I used it anyway.

Old Navy shirt, pants, belt, Forever Young shoes, Charlotte Russe necklace

WHEN: Friday, March 24

WHERE: Work and Friday night date

GETTING CREATIVE: I decided to wear the green shirt to work this week too. I am glad that it has been warm! I matched the shoes and belt here obviously, but I like it. I wore this with a navy cardigan which made it look less slouchy. I got a lot of compliments on this ensemble but I don't know if I am loving it in the picture...

What I Wore

This week was beautiful! We even got to go outside to take pictures. I also wore several outfits that I was pleased with so great stuff all around!

H&M shirt, Forever 21 cardigan, Old Navy pants, Target shoes and belt, Charlotte Russe necklace

WHEN: Thursday, March 15

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I loved this outfit. It was inspired by this pin and I am just happy with how it turned out. I like the rolled sleeves... it adds dimension and made it perfect for the temperature.

Charlotte Russe shirt, Target cardigan, New York & Co. pants, Payless shoes and bangles

WHEN: Wednesday March 14

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I rolled up my pants to make some crops for the warm weather. This shirt is really pretty close up, btw.

Bags that Fit cardigan, made by me skirt and socks, Madden girl boots

WHEN: Sunday, March 18

WHERE: Church (I also wore this to work the next day with a pink and orange striped cardigan but it didn't look quite as cute.)

GETTING CREATIVE: I really like when I can wear handmade stuff. : ) I wore this skirt on the first day of school and don't think that I have worn it since seeing as how it is very springy/summery. Adding the sweater and boots made it perfect for a March day.

Bags that Fit dress, Wet Seal (?) jacket, Forever Young shoes, Target belt

WHEN: Friday, March 16

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: Yesterday Kendi talked about fancy Friday. I often like to dress up on Fridays too. This out was inspired by a pin. While my outfit is different, I like the way it turned out... even if the wind makes it a bit too clingy. :)

I still haven't decided what to wear for St. Patty's Day today. I wore a green patterned hoodie and sparkly Toms out to breakfast this morning, but I might change for our family party tonight. I like looking festive, but I am a little short on green clothes since I have been cleaning out my closet. I found some green Calvin Klein pants at Ross yesterday that I desperately wanted to buy that would have been perfect today. I resisted though. Well, anyway... have a lucky day!

What I Wore

Gap shirt, old jacket, Old Navy pants, Payless boots

I didn't post anything earlier in the day because I didn't think I had any pictures. It wasn't a very good getting dressed week and Spencer wasn't home much to take my picture.
Sunday: Meh.
Monday: pretty good
Tuesday: My workout clothes all day because I took my PE class on a field trip
Wednesday: A repeat outfit (last outfit here)
Thursday: Same as Tuesday
Friday: I was feeling creative after looking terrible all week so I experimented and the results were horrible. I am glad that I changed before Spencer got home so there is not photographic evidence of that!
Saturday: Spencer was gone fishing and I don't attempt to take my own photos anymore.

But I found this tonight while looking through the camera card so here it is. I think I wore it last week. It's nothing special but at least I don't look too bad. And hopefully I can start to do outside pictures again soon. Yipee!

What I Wore

Hand-me-down shirt, Kohl's pants, Yellow Box shoes, Target belt and necklace

WHEN: Thursday, March 1

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I loved this outfit. I really like the all black with a pop of color lately. And yellow is one of the best colors to pop!

Traded with Paige from Pink Lemonade shirt, Old Navy cardigan, Ross jeans, Payless boots, Target belt

WHEN: Sunday, February 26 and Monday, February 27

WHERE: After church family dinner and work (except with my black pants)

GETTING CREATIVE: Okay this outfit started out inspired by a lady at church who was wearing a gray dress, yellow cardi, and turquoise belt with white tights and brown boots. I put on the gray top and yellow cardi but I don't have a turquoise belt. I tried to use a purse strap as a belt, but it didn't really work. So I switched to my bright green belt but that wasn't right either. After several color combos this is what I arrived at. Whew.

Express sweater, Walmart skirt, Forever Young boots, Down East necklace

WHEN: Sunday, February 26

WHERE: Church

GETTING CREATIVE: I bought this sweater long before the stripe obsession began. I think that means that I will like stripes when it ends. This outfit might need a more defined waist. I think the skirt is too big.

Have a nice Sunday tomorrow! I will be back next week with my latest quilling project!

Saturday, February 25, 2012

What I Wore

Walmart dress, Old Navy cardigan, Ross belt, Forever 21 boots

WHEN: Friday, February 24

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: The part of the dress that ruched and goes around the chest is actually pulled down almost over my stomach. I needed to dress to be long to cover the ankle boots so that was my solution. One of my students (an 8th grade boy), said that he liked my dress. Then asked if it was a dress or skirt, which led to a class wide discussion on the difference between dresses and skirts. Another boy said he now had an answer for his parents when they asked what he learned in class that day. Ha!
Forever 21 cardigan, can't remember where I got the shirt, Bags that Fit belt, Gap skinnies, Payless boots

WHEN: Thursday, February 23

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: Another stripes and mustard combo! Yay! I love that I came up with another one just out of my closet with stuff I've had for awhile.

Kohls tank, Bags that Fit cardigan, New York and Co pants, Forever Young shoes, Old Navy belt, gifted necklace

WHEN: Wednesday, February 22.

WHERE: Work

GETTING CREATIVE: I feel like a bona fide style blogger in this outfit: lace, ruffles, cardigan, half tuck, skinny belt, red pants, and colors! : )

Thanks for your concern about these red pants last week. The black stain came out, then I cooked when I wore these pants and got butter on them. They are in the washer again and will probably come out pink from so much constant washing!

Remember last week when I said I was in desperate need of a haircut? Well I was only a few hours away from this new cut. Do you like??

These pictures were taken at the end of the day and I don't think the layers look as good as they usually do. I LOVE it. Especially now that I have had a few days to get used to doing it. I think it looks so much better than the hairstyle I had before!

Saturday, February 18, 2012

What I Wore

Wet Seal blouse, Old Navy Sweater, Maurices pants, Payless shoes

WHEN: Monday, February 13

WHERE: Work for wear red day.

GETTING CREATIVE: I didn't have anything long sleeved/warm for wear red day at school so I had to find a layer that would show the red but keep me warm. I haven't worn these shoes in so long so I incorporated them for the wear red theme. Oh would you look at that hair. It needs a good cut!

This is the only photo I got all week. I didn't get a pic of my V-day outfit because I only got to wear it for about 45 min. I was unloading grocery bags from my car that contained ice cream toppings for an upcoming student council fundraiser. I dropped one, and the can of whip cream exploded all over me and my car (just the outside!) and the car I was parked next to! Luckily it was a PE day so I changed into my workout clothes and tried to wash my pants (the red ones!!) in the home ec washing machine. That took longer than expected so by the time they were done it was time for my PE class. I did wear the same outfit the next day, but was unable to get a picture. Then I noticed that my freshly washed pants had some sort of greasy black stain on the knee. Sigh. That reminds me. Those pants are in the washer. I had better go check on them and see if the stain came out.

One Cardigan, Ten Ways

Buttoned up and tucked in a skirt

Buttoned up with a favorite scarf

Belted over a printed blouse
Belted over stripes with a scarf and boots

Left open over a dress

With matching shoes

Under a vest

Over a sweater

One button done up over a maxi dress

Belted over a dress with a brooch

My favorite mustard cardigan was only $11.50 from Forever 21. I bought it at the beginning of last fall. It isn't the highest quality and won't last forever (I've already had my mom sew up a hole in the armpit) but I have worn it at least a dozen time which so far means it has cost less than $1 per wear and I am sure I will be able to wear it at least a dozen more times.
